Artist Background

343 Lab's Brian Jackson recently did an interview with Audeze giving us the inside scoop to how he started, how he became successful in the music industry, and some advice for fellow artists as well! Check out the full interview here.

Brian Jackson is also a brilliant music producer, mastering engineer, and Ableton certified trainer. He wrote an article for 343 Labs that breaks down the history of mastering and the goal an artist would want to achieve with a mastered track. Please check it out here!

Studio Tool You Need 🎹

β€œBloom is the culmination of six years of research, development, and critical listening. It is by far our most complex processor to date.” - Oeksound

Oeksound's adaptive tone shaper, Bloom, delivers "what we wish an EQ would do." It can control irregularities in rough-sounding samples and increase warmth, clarity, or brightness with natural-sounding results.

β€œWe developed an algorithm that refines the tonal balance of a sound, optimising for both warmth and presence. However, balance cannot be thought of as an objective truth.

Production Sauce 🎡

Virtual Riot made a cool video called β€œI heard you like polyrhythms." The original is here: Watch Will from EDM tips draw in the MIDI that makes it happen here!

News You Should Hear About ⚠️

"At AC55ID, it’s Bandcamp Friday every day."

AC55ID, pronounced β€œA C fifty-five I D,” is a new music marketplace aimed at creating a more equitable financial model for independent electronic artists.

The Bandcamp alternative (inspired by Bandcamp Fridays, which waives all platform revenue fees for artists once a month) allows artists to retain 100% of their physical and digital earnings. At only $10/month for artists and $29/month for labels, the site's subscription-based model is one of the lowest on the market.

The platform serves not only as a streaming service for fans and artists to discover new music but also provides a complimentary fulfillment center and on-demand bio-vinyl pressing.

An Industry Secret They Don't Want You To Know 🀫

Marketing in social media has grown exponentially in the last decade as technology has progressed so much that anyone has the power to market themselves.

As social media influencers have become a new center point in the online community, platforms like Music Breakr seek to bridge the gap between artists, musicians, and creators with influencers. This allows building organic relationships to make way for genuine and effective marketing campaigns to occur over sending endless submissions and spending money hoping someone will market your music.

It's an interesting new approach from this platform founded in 2020. Read more about it here!

Artists We Love 🎀

Los Angeles indie pop band The Marias creates exotic music with "smoke-velvet" vocals from lead singer Maria Zardoya, jazz percussion from her partner, drummer, and producer Josh Conway, and even more beautiful musical infusions. Known for also having songs in both English and Spanish, one minute of listening to this band will elevate your day and bring you peace and joy. Our favorite songs "Spin Me Around", "Hush", and their brand new single, "Run Your Mouth", are all available on Spotify and Apple Music.
