News You Should Hear About ⚠️
A lawsuit against hip-hop artist Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) was dismissed in New York court earlier this week. The copyright infringement suit claimed that Glover's 2019 song "This is America" infringed on rapper Kidd Wes' 2016 song "Made in America."
“More could be said on the ways these songs differ, but no more airtime is needed to resolve this case," the judge wrote in his decision. Attorneys say that Wes is still considering an appeal.
The suit is not the first of its kind – Ed Sheeran, Karol G, Pharrell and many more have been sued for allegedly plagiarizing other artists' music. Many claim that these legal precedents can be a slippery slope– confining and punishing artists for making music. Others argue that legal guardrails are necessary to protecting musicians' intellectual property. However you see it, there's sure to be plenty more lawsuits and appeals...and lawsuits and appeals...in the future.

Artists We Love 🎤
We have been huge fans of Anna Lunoe for 10 years now. Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Anna has continuously broken boundaries as a DJ, producer, radio host, curator, and much more in the music industry. From her "Luney Tunes" mixes on SoundCloud (where we first started listening to her), to her Hyperhouse radio show on Apple Music, Anna has always loved finding music that she believed needed to be shared with the world. She just released a new single with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs called "Right Here." The new single, along with our favorites, "Breathe" "Godzilla" and "Real Talk" are all available on Spotify and Apple Music.
