Production Sauce 🎵

Sam from Antidote Audio has posted a video on how to produce a sick Skrillex style drop.

He emphasizes three points:

1. Don’t overcomplicate your drums.
2. Make your bass more interesting with subtle pitch adjustments.
3. Intentionally offset sounds to make them slightly out of time, then use glue.

Skrillex drops might not be your thing, but this video does cover some interesting sound design tips. Check it out here! Antidote also offers some freebie presets and sounds here!

News You Should Hear About ⚠️

If you need another reminder to protect your ears, here it is!

A UK study published by RNID (Royal National Institute for Deaf People) found that out of 2,000 concert-goers this year, over half (58%) have experienced tinnitus or temporary hearing loss following a live music event. Over a third have experienced have experienced it more than once.

For this study, RNID teamed up with musician Tre Lowe, who has suffered rom tinnitus since he was a child.

“There is a real lack of education out there about protecting your hearing and how it’s so easy to damage your ears. I wish I’d known that, and that’s why I’m so passionate about getting the message out there," Lowe said.

Audio experts and doctors recommend wearing earbuds when at live music venues and reducing your exposure to loud noises when possible. Check out some more tips to protect your ears here.

Artists We Love 🎤

Hailing from California's Bay Area, this trio of friends who make up Sjowgren, are not necessarily a band, but an art collective. They are songwriters and producers who make music to simply have out for all to listen, without any of the touring or merchandizing elements. An unusual approach in today's climate, especially as new fans always hope to see artists they appreciate perform live.

Nonetheless, they have blessed us with immaculate music that will make you wish you were singing along to them live! Check out High Beams, What Goes Around, and more recently 2much2soon, on Spotify and Apple Music!
